I should have been really good at hockey, I was a good athlete, 6'6", tough, had good hands, and could skate well.
But I was just an average high school hockey player.
I made good plays and was great at defense, but I never scored goals, and that's how the position I played was judged - by goal scoring.
Because of this, I never played on any national teams, I never went to play for a college…
The idea of doing those types of things never seemed possible, because as hard as I worked, deep down inside, I knew I was average.
Fast forward 20 years…
I'm way past my physical prime, but I play in a men's hockey league.
